About this site

The name

Global Domination is a concept that was coined in the summer of 1999 when I was working at PSInet in London's Docklands (with the likes of Jeremy Hansford and Paul Thornton...among others.) at what was the height of the dot-com 'golden age' (ahhh - those were the days...).
Back then, the world was a much simpler place. Technology companies ruled supreme and were the darlings of the worlds stock markets & Venture Capitalists, and we were working for one of the biggest managed hosting companies in the world, building out 100,000 sq. ft datacentres as fast as we could... The big money was sure to come!

Global Domination was surely within grasp...

That bubble burst, the once mighty PSInet went Chapter 13 and was broken up (and is still breaking up - the name is almost completely forgotten now, with chunks now belonging to Telstra (UK), Interoute (Europe) and Cogent (North America)) and all the talent disappearing to the four corners of the earth.

Purpose

Sadly Global Domination has been postponed, until I can at least get this site looking half decent and has some useful content on it. Until then, the site is dedicated to shameless self-promotion through providing useful links, tips & tricks for the wider VMware and Altiris communities. What you won't find here is anything to do with other forms of domination involving scary women, whips, leather etc.

About me

I was born in Ashburton (aka AshVegas), New Zealand in 1973 and currently live in Bromley, Kent (UK) with my long suffering partner Lisa, Daughter Alex, and a menagerie of pets.
Between 1973 and now, I have lived (mostly) in Christchurch (New Zealand), Hong Kong and London.

I work as a consultant specialising in VMware, Altiris and general IT infrastructure, and can usually be found working in the 'square mile' (London's Financial District - aka 'The City').
